Hugh Campbell

Hugh Campbell is Professor of Architecture at UCD, where he also has a role as Academic Director of Campus Space Management and Development. He recently led the Building Change project in UCD, reforming architecture curricula across Ireland to meet the challenges of climate change. His most recent research focusses on the recording and valuing of complex sites and specifically on the future use of former institutional sites across Ireland. He has published extensively on architecture, photography and urban culture, notably the books Architecture Filmmaking (co-edited with Igea Troiani) and Space Framed - Photography, Architecture and the Social Landscape (2021). He has collaborated in the curation of a number of exhibitions including the Close Encounter section of the 2018 Venice Biennale Freespace with Grafton Architects and, with Nathalie Weadick, the Irish Pavilion at the 2008 Venice Biennale, The Lives of Spaces.
