Mr. Handel, 60, is the founding partner and president of Handel Architects, a design firm perhaps best known for its work on the National September 11 Memorial, where the World Trade Center twin towers once stood. The company, which Mr. Handel founded in 1994, is involved in dozens of big projects around the world, including the Greenpoint Landing development inBrooklyn.
