Pre-Conference Walking City Tour of Pamplona - Wednesday 13 May 2026

The Constructed Environment Conference is pleased to offer the following walking tour.

"Are you ready to discover the charms of the capital of Navarra?

First, we will walk along the Pablo Sarasate promenade. From this avenue, named after one of the most famous violinists in the world, we will head to the Jardines de la Taconera. After enjoying this park, we will proceed to the historic centre of Pamplona.
In the old town of the Navarra capital, we will stop in front of the Town Hall facade. Did you know that every July 6th is when the “chupinazo” takes place? It marks the beginning of the San Fermín festival! We will talk about this popular celebration and then pass by other iconic points where the encierros take place, such as Calle Estafeta.
We will also stop at other well-known places in the old town of Pamplona, such as Calle Javier or the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa María la Real, which is built in one of the oldest areas of the city.
Finally, after a walk of 2,5h, we will conclude the private tour in front of the Pamplona bullring, the same place where the famous San Fermín encierros end."

Case Study - Thursday 14 May 2026

The Constructed Environment Conference is pleased to offer the following Case Study experience.

In-Person Blended conference delegates are invited to join us for a conference Case Study trip to see the city and discuss the conference themes.

Participants will take part in a dérive along Pamplona’s historic city walls and the Citadel, using slow walking and photography as tools to investigate the wall as a living boundary. Through this guided exploration, attendees will examine how this monumental edge mediates:

  • Material conditions (stone, erosion, restoration)
  • Shapes mobilities (flows, circulations, thresholds)
  • Hosts urban ecologies (vegetation, microclimates, species)
  • Generates cultural imaginaries (memory, defence, openness, belonging).

Each participant will produce a photographic interpretation of one or more of these dimensions. The resulting images (capturing the wall as both separator and connector) will be curated into a collective exhibition displayed at the school on the second day of the conference, offering a polyphonic reading of Pamplona’s most emblematic constructed boundary.

Date: Thursdya, May 14, 2026

Time: Scheduled in the Conference Program

Meeting Point: Departing from the University
